Sammy Joe Taunton

Services for Mr. Sammy Joe Taunton will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Utility Baptist Church, Jonesville, with Aaron Paul, Johnnie Skinner, and James Foster officiating. Burial will be in Taunton Cemetery, Harrisonburg, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville.

Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2003, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Young's Funeral Home, Jonesville.

Mr. Taunton, 50, of Jonesville, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, in his residence.

He was employed by the Jonesville Police Department and served in the U.S. Army and Marine Corp[s] during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Taunton of Jonesville; two sons, Joe ``Little Joe'' Taunton and John Estes Taunton, both of Jonesville; parents, Joe and Katherine Taunton; brother, Willie Earl Taunton of Jena; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jacky Skinner, Jimmie Skinner, Wendell Skinner, Paul Erwin, Woodie Smith, Jim Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Tarpley, Ray Turner and the Jonesville Police Department.
