S. R. Doyle, retired teacher, rites held
Services for Sammy Ruth Foster Doyle, 77, a retired schoolteacher, were held Wednesday at Belmont Heights Baptist Church.
Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Jackson, Tenn.
Mrs. Doyle, who lived at 4121 Legend Hall Drive, died Sunday in Belcourt Terrace Nursing Home.
She taught third and fourth grades at Woodmont School for 25 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Doyle was a charter member of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority.
She was a member of the Embroiderer's Guild of America, Cheekwood Chapter, and served as a volunteer at Baptist Hospital and Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Fine Arts Center.
She was a daughter of Betty and Samuel Foster of Blanchard, Okla., and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Vernon M. Doyle; a son, Dr. Michael V. Doyle, Dallas; a daughter, Elizabeth Husband, Seattle, Wash.; and two grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or another charity.
