Samuel G. Gates

SIKES (Special) -- Funeral services for Samuel G. Gates, 81, of Sikes were held at 2 p.m. today in Sikes Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie James and the Rev. Willis Ray Curtis officiating.

Burial was in Sikes Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mr. Gates died Sunday in the North Claiborne General Hospital in Haynesville after a brief illness.

He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are a son, Morris G. Gates of Dodson; a daughter, Mrs. Ada Brown of Haynesville; a brother, Dewey Gates of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Letha Busby of Crowville and Mrs. Jewel Holliday of Monroe; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
