Samuel Guice
Samuel Guice, 72, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Sunday, July 20, 1997, in a drowning accident in Maryland.
Born April 20, 1925, in New Orleans, he was the son of the late H. and Addie Avery Guice.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he retired after 20 years as a chief radioman. He served during World War II and the Korean War. He previously was employed as a nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va., and as a school teacher at South Hagerstown High School.
He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW, where he was on the house committee; and Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Mayme Walker Guice; one daughter, Penny Lee Sandrock of Annapolis, Md.; eight stepdaughters, Kelly Arvin and Dolores Sheeder, both of Falling Waters, Susan Kuhn, Jackie Printz and Blanche St. Clair, all of Waynesboro, Alice Hamby of Hagerstown, Freda Brown of State Line, Pa., and Kathleen Stouffer of South Mountain, Pa.; three stepsons, David Dinkle and Steven Dinkle, both of Martinsburg, and Joseph L. Reese of Falling Waters; one brother, Martin Guice of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Wayne Guice and Wayne Dinkle; two sisters, Mamie Guice and Lillian Guice; three brothers, Horace Guice, Harvey Guice and Robert Guice; and one great-grandson.
