SAM GREGORY OF WARD FIVE IS LAID TO REST

Prominent Ward 5 Planter Died Saturday: Interment At Mt. Pleasant

Samuel S. Gregory, prominent ward 5 planter, died at his home on the Four Notch road Saturday after a lingering illness. Funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. by Rev. J. D. Kitchingham, pastor of the Columbia Baptist church, and Rev. V. D. Morris, pastor of the Columbia Methodist church, in charge. Interment was made in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Mr. Gregory was a life-long resident of this parish and was well respected and liked by all who knew him.

Surviving are his widow, whose maiden name was Miss Clara Mecom and a sister of M. L. Mecom of this city and Dr. F. H. Mecom of Clarks, and six sons: J. D. Gregory, Phillip Gregory, Harry Gregory, J. J. Gregory, Tillman Gregory and Mecom (Bill) Gregory; and five daughters, Mrs. A. J. Coates, Mrs. D. J. Wilson, Miss Nita Gregory, of this parish; Mrs. Emerson Thompson of Amite; Mrs. C. C. Kidd of Pittsburg, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. E. S. Raines of ward 5 and a number of nephews and nieces.
