BATES, SANDRA ELAINE TATE
Sandra Elaine Tate Bates, 53, of the Enon community in Mississippi, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Singing Rivers Hospital, Pascagoula, Miss., following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Clinton, the daughter of Alton Tate Sr. of Zachary and the late Elaine Story Tate. She was a secretary for Southwest Mississippi Mental Health and a 17-year member of Enon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her father; her husband, James R. Bates of the Enon community; a son, Jamie Bates of Gulfport, Miss.; a daughter, Dana Bates of the Enon community; a brother, Alton Tate Jr. of Walker; a sister, Anita LeBlanc and husband John of Zachary; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James M. and Kathleen Bates of the Enon community; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was at Catchings Funeral Home, McComb, Miss., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation at Enon Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Barry Cutrer and the Rev. Eddie Bates officiating. Burial in Enon Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Grady Alexander, Carl Joseph Dunaway, Paul Haney, Lynn Harvey, John LeBlanc and Donald Reid.
The family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
