Sara Kathleen Worden was called Home on Friday January 18th at the age of 91. Sara was the third of four children born to Reece and Anna Deffenbaugh.

Born July 8th, 1921, Sara was raised on a small farm in Eldon, Missouri. Upon graduation from high school, Sara married Paul Perkins and together they shared two children, Johnny and June Perkins. They would relocate to Washington State, where they would reunite with Sara's older brother and partner in crime, John Deffenbaugh of Kennewick, as well as Sara's mother Anna and stepfather Olin Graham.

With the unexpected passing of Paul in 1960, Sara raised her two children as a single mother in Richland, WA, while working in cost accounting for Westinghouse. While at Westinghouse, she met and later married Joe Worden in 1965 and become a step mother to Joe's kids; Lamont, Duane, Candice and Brian. The following year Sara and Joe would welcome son, Joseph Reece Worden, to their blended family.

Sara was the personification of courage, love, compassion and resiliency and embraced each new challenge life presented to her with unwavering strength and determination. Sara was an avid golfer, loved playing cards with her girlfriends and was a proud past president of the Emblem's Club, chapter #322. Sara will forever be remembered as a loving and caring Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandma and Great Grandmother, and friend to many.

Sara is preceded in death by spouses Paul and Joe, brother, John, sister Ida, and son Johnny. Sara is survived by sister Bertie Reece of Independence, MO, daughters June Johnson of Seattle and Candi Loren of Walla Walla, sons Joseph Suzanne of Phoenix, Lamont Brenda of Spokane, and Brian of Seattle. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she treasured and loved deeply. Sara was a wonderful women and leaves behind an incredible legacy.

Go home Mom where there is no more sorrow and pain. Sara Kathleen was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 5:00pm at Central United Protestant Church in Richland.
