Funeral services for Sarah Amelia Armstrong Sipes of Marshall were conducted Friday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. from the Colonial Chapel of the Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Don McPherson officiating. Burial followed in Tatum Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie Chandler, Randy Smart, Kirk Chandler, George L. Sipes Jr., Rick Smart and Tim Sipes.
Mrs. Sipes, 74, died Thursday morning, Sept. 26, in Colonial Park Nursing Home, Marshall.
A native of Beckville, she was born Feb. 20, 1911, the daughter of Arch and Mary Magdaline Emmons Armstrong. A homemaker, she was a member of Sunset Missionary Baptist Church, Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Edward Sipes, on June 25, 1965, and one son, Gerald Wayne Sipes, in 1940.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Fulton Sipes and George Lewis Sipes; Charlotte Louis[e] Schermerhorn, Dorothy Marie Chandler and Betty Ann Smart; two brothers, J.C. Armstrong and Aubrey Armstrong, all of Marshall; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
