Sarah Smith

Sarah E. Smith, 97, a retired line worker, died Sunday at Mission De La Casa in San Jose.

She was born Nov. 16, 1905, in Sykes [sic Sikes], La., and lived in Salinas for 58 years.

Mrs. Smith worked for Speegles Food in Salinas prior to her retirement.

She is survived by two daughters, Sarah McClelland of Alexandria, La., and Robbie Laughlin of San Miguel; a son, Morris Jones of Prunedale; a sister, Alma Rhinehart of Rayville, La.; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee Jones; and second husband, Raymond Smith.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Healey Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas.
