MRS. SPURGEON (SARAH) DAVIS
Mrs. Spurgeon (Sarah) Davis, 84, of Route 1, Laurel, died Saturday morning in a Laurel hospital. She was born in Scott County, Jan. 1, 1884. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m. from the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with the Revs. Mac Parker and John Foy Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Spurgeon Davis of Rt. 1, Laurel; one daughter, Mrs. Mae [sic Mac] Parker of Jackson; four sons, Hilton H. Davis, Mobile; Elbert Davis of Laurel; Jessie Willard Davis, Memphis; and Harold C. [sic G.] Davis, Jackson.
She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Musgrove, Mrs. Lola Little and Mrs. Rebecca Ellzey, all of Mobile; one brother, Emitt McDaniels of Mobile; 20 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the deasons [sic deacons] and trustees of Freedom Baptist Church.
Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
