Scott McCarty Succumbs at 42

SULPHUR, La. -- Scott Monroe McCarty, 42, of Sulphur, died at 5:45 a.m. today at St. Patrick's hospital in Lake Charles after an illness of several weeks.
A native of Alexandria, he had lived in Sulphur for 16 years. He was a graduate of Louisiana College and received a master's degree in chemistry from Louisiana Tech in Ruston. He was a chemist for Cities Service refinery at Lake Charles, where he had been employed for 17 years.
McCarty was a Sunday School Teacher and usher at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater in the Army. He was president of the Gulf States Camera Club Council.
Remains are at the Burke-Hammer Funeral home in Sulphur. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist church of Sulphur, with Rev. Joe Bartlett, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Williams McCarty, one son, Samuel Grauke McCarty and two daughters, Roberta Maxine and Jennifer Lea McCarty, all of Sulphur.
