Sharon Sue Stapleton Purvis

Funeral services for Mrs. Sharon Sue Stapleton Purvis will be at 2:00 pm Sunday November 3, 2013 at the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena with Revs. Lester Johnson and Byron Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Heard Cemetery. Friends may call from 8am until time for services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Purvis, 64, was born April 5, 1949 in Jena, La. to the union of G.C. and Elaine Bignar Stapleton and passed from this life on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Mrs. Stapleton was retired beautician.

Those left to cherish her memories, her husband, Melvin Purvis of Jonesville; Sisters, Gladys Elliott and her husband Grover Wayne of Jonesville and Nina Terral and her husband George of Gautier, Mississippi.; Brothers, Mac Stapleton and his wife D' Juana and Dub Stapleton and his wife Glenda both of Jena.; Special nephew, Curtis Jones.; Special great niece Alexis Jones of Youngsville, La.; Sisters-In-Law, Lola Purvis, Sharon Smitherman, Kay Purvis and Linda Stapleton.; Brother-In-Law, Maxie Parker.; Aunt, Doris Bell and her husband Orville of Jena.; Uncle, Johnny (Sonny) Stapleton and his wife Hazel of Arp, Texas.; 17-nieces and nephews, 44-great nieces and nephews, 2-great great nephews and 1-great great niece.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Nadine Stapleton Parker; Brother, Gary Curtis Stapleton; Nephews, Beau Allan Stapleton and Charlie Bill Stapleton; Great nephews, Andrew and Christopher Fuglar; Brothers-In-Law, Wade Purvis, Raymond Purvis and Jim Smitherman.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Gary Jack Stapleton, Curt Stapleton, Wayne Elliott, Chad Stapleton, Jamie Parker, Will Stapleton, Luke Stapleton, Zac Stapleton, Wade Purvis, Van Atkins and Marty Purvis.
