Shelba graduated from Jonesboro Hodge High School, and continued on to receive B.A. and M.A. degrees from Louisiana Tech University. She worked as an elementary educator for the Jackson Parish School Board for 30 years. All but two of those 30 years were in service at Quitman High School. Her principle belief about children was that each had the potential to learn and grow ... they needed much nurturing ... and that was her mission. Couple this principal belief with her love for Christ, she discovered numerous mission projects that gave her an opportunity to share the gospel with so many people whether be it child or adult. Her passion was serving in the WMU which gave her great joy in sharing the gospel alongside other believers in Christ. Along with her husband, Odis, she had a love of traveling and reading.

Shelba took her first breaths in heaven on May 7th and became a member of Jesus' heavenly kingdom and that great “Cloud of Witnesses.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Jackson Parish WMU organization.
