Shelby WHEELUS

MSGT Shelby Wheelus, Retired, U.S. Army, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the age of 87 years. He was born in Olla Louisiana on July 15, 1922. He married Luna Louise Clark on June 5, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas.

Shelby is survived by his wife Luna Wheelus and their children, Charles Shelby Wheelus, Linda Tijerina, Rebecca Whitten, and Karen Ng; grandchildren, Roger Fried, Celestial Fried, Matthew Wheelus, David Wheelus, Christopher Huber, Jennifer Meachum, Jackie Ng, Christian Tijerina, Dominique Tijerina, Jeremy Tijerina, Charles Whitten, and Elizabeth Whitten; great-grandchildren, Shelby Rayne Gratton, Brian Wheelus, Sydnee Wheelus,Alexa Wheelus, Emily Fried, Allison Fried, Maxwell Meachum.

Shelby served 22 years in the Army and was a WWII Veteran. Later Shelby was a real estate broker. He loved his family, the outdoors, the mountains, and hiking and sharing his passion for nature with his family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Chaplain Ray Davis officiating and Army Military Honors.
