Shelly Whittington, Father of 2 Residents Of BR, Dies in Miss.
LIBERTY, Miss. -- Shelly Whittington, a farmer, died unexpectedly at 1 a.m. Wednesday at his home eight miles west of Liberty on Gloster, Route 2. He was the father of two Baton Rouge residents.
He was 56 years old. His brother, H. K. Whittington, is Amite County circuit clerk.
The body is at the Brown Funeral Home in Gloster. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the New Hope Methodist Church near Gloster. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Among survivors are his widow, the former Virgie Sterling; one son, Wayne Whittington of Baton [Rouge; and three daughters,] Ione Walsh of Liberty, Mrs. Ercel Cobb of Baton Rouge, and Miss Eloise Whittington of Ellisville, Miss.

Whittington Rites
LIBERTY -- Final rites for Shelly Cleveland Whittington, 56, were held Thursday at New Hope Methodist church with burial in the church cemetery. He was a resident of Route 5.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne Whittington, Baton Rouge; three daughters, Mrs. George Walsh, Liberty; Mrs. Fred Moore, Ellisville; Mrs. G. F. Cobb, Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. G. C. Whittington; two brothers, Hylon K. Whittington, Liberty, and Hershel Whittington, Summit; three sisters, Miss Hoyte Whittington, Ellisville; Mrs. J. C. Raney, Laurel; and Mrs. Trudy Felder, Liberty.
