SHELLY WHITTINGTON

SULPHUR (Spl.) -- Funeral services for Shelly J. Whittington, 59, resident of 113 Hudson St., were to be at 3 p.m. today in the Hammar Funeral Home chapel here.

The Rev. John Lounsberry, pastor of the Central Baptist Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Thomas J. Welch, pastor of the Maplewood Bapsist [sic Baptist] Church.

The body was to be taken to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gloster, Miss., for 3 p.m. services Tuesday. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery there.

Mr. Whittington died at 10:12 a.m. Sunday in the West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Gloster, and had lived in the Sulphur area the past 20 years.

He was a power house operator for the Cities Services Oil Co., where he had been employed 21 years. He was a member of the Sulphur Lodge No. 424, F&AM.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace Whittington; two daughters, Mrs. James Brame of Maplewood and Mrs. O. J. Buis of Bogato, Columbia [sic Bogata, Colombia], South America, and eight grandchildren.
