Services for Sherwood A. Poole, 90 of Hebert were at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004 at Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Bro. John Bell officiating. Burial followed in Old Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Sherwood was born November 21, 1913 to the union of Edwin Washington Poole and Laura Bellzora Brandin Poole. Our Lord took him home to Heaven on February 26, 2004 where there will be no more suffering or pain and he will be able to join his loved ones. He was a native and resident of Hebert, LA. He was a retired employee from the La. State Health Department for the Caldwell Parish area and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Hebert, LA. Sherwood was an avid hunter, devoted father and grandfather, and a friend to everyone he knew.
Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Laura Poole; his wife, Eva Bell McDonald Poole; and his son, Jimmie Glynn Poole, Sr., all of Hebert.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Janiece Clark Poole of Hebert; grandchildren: Jimmie Glynn Poole, Jr. of Rayville, Sheila Hyde Poole of Hebert; Kenneth Clark Poole of Hebert and Allison Poole Housley of Hebert; 11 great grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Jack McDonald of Olla; and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Maxwell of Hebert.
Pallbearers were Wiley Kelly, Billy Joe Poole, R. B. McClanahan, Jerry Cooper, Leland Kenny, and Lewis Walters.
Honorary Pallbearers were Trumon Poole, John Hardy Poole, Donald Greer, Eugene Puckett, Pete Harveston, and the late Shady Barfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Mr. Sherwood Poole.
