Died Friday, Oct. 11, 1985, at 6:30 a.m. at Herman Hospital, Houston, Texas. He was born Feb. 15, 1919, a native of Sikes. He was a petroleum engineer and graduate of LSU.
Graveside services at Greenoaks Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Friday.
Survived by wife, Merle Bickford McCarty, Baton Rouge; a daughter, Deborah McCarty Westenberg, Tennessee; a son, Shile D. McCarty Jr., Baton Rouge; and two brothers, Troy M. McCarty, Midland, Texas; and Ross Roy McCarty, Harrisonburg.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert William McCarty and Alice Perkins McCarty; a sister, Myrtle McCarty; and two brothers, Ivory W. and Ira Lawson McCarty.
