Shirley Cherry Whittington

OCEAN SPRINGS -- Mrs. Shirley Cherry Whittington, 68, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Whittington, a resident of the community for 28 years, was a registered USAF nurse at the Biloxi Veterans Administration.

Survivors include her husband, Bennie B. Whittington of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Cheryl Schminke of Evansville, Ind.; three sons, Lynn Whittington of Montgomery, Ala., Kim Whittington of Pike-Road, Ala., and Danny Whittington of Rockledge, Fla.; a sister, Bettie Jo Bright of Washington, N.C.; five brothers, Willis Cherry of Old Ford, N.C., Truman Cherry of Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Cherry of Washington, N.C., Ronald Cherry of Newbern, N.C., and Gerald Cherry of Washington, D.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Biloxi National Cemetery.
