Shirley Kathleen Burns
Shirley Kathleen Burns died in her Port Townsend home of an extended illness. She was 90.
She was born in Shine to Bertie Allen and Leora Kathleen (Howe) Kilmer.
She married Samuel Burns in Port Townsend on Oct. 30, 1936. He died Dec. 21, 1989.
Mrs. Burns moved extensively, living not only in Shine but also in Eastern Washington and Irondale.
In addition to traveling and enjoying her family, she liked reading.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law James and Elaine Burns of Joyce; daughter and son-in-law Mary Janice and Terry Fitzthum of Spokane; brothers and sisters-in-law Andrew and Sheila Kilmer of Port Hadlock and Harvey and Lenora Kilmer of Irondale; sister-in-law Clarissa Kilmer; sisters Ruth Anderson of North Bend and Lois Black of Port Townsend; sisters and brothers-in-law Elsie and Leo Lopeman of Port Hadlock and Karen Harold Hammer of Irondale; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, those preceding Mrs. Burns in death include brothers Lee Kilmer and Roger Kilmer; sister Grace Kilmer; and brothers-in-law Maurice Anderson, Edward Black and Walt Dillon.
Services: None. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, was in charge of burial at Shine Cemetery.
