Sibyl Garcia
Sibyl Garcia, a resident of Monterey for more than 50 years, died Monday at Hospice House in Monterey.
She was 74. Born March 23, 1925, in Soso, Miss., she was an Army clerical worker during World War II and transferred to Fort Ord after the war, where she met her husband, Ray Garcia. He died in 1992. Mrs. Garcia, a homemaker and talented seamstress, had also worked for Pacific Bell in Monterey. She enjoyed playing bingo at St. Angela's Catholic Church in Pacific Grove, and also liked word puzzles and watching game shows on television.
Mrs. Garcia is survived by two sons, James Garcia of Pacific Grove and Ron Garcia of Palo Alto; three daughters, Carmelita Garcia of Pacific Grove, Rita Garcia of San Rafael and Jovita Duer of San Leandro; nine grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Angela's Church. Burial will follow at San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
