Sydney C. Lowrey Dies In B'ham
Mr. Sydney C. Lowrey of 1124 4th Avenue West, Birmingham died in a local
infirmary, March 9th, 1942, after a short illness. For many years he was a resident of
West Blocton and came from one of our pioneer families.
He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of West Blocton since early in
life. He is survived by two sisters, Miss Della Lowrey of West Blocton, Mrs. Guy A.
Ligon, Phoenix, Arizona, and two brothers, Mr. W. E. Lowrey, Birmingham; Mr. C. W.
Lowrey, West Blocton
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon.
Rev. C. B. Martin officiating. Collins Funeral Home directing. Interment in Mt. Carmel
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: W. T. Morrison, W. A. Jones, Marvin Stewart, Harvey
Pope, Horace McIntosh, Claude Jones, Jr.
