Sidney Derwood Rollins Jr.
Sidney Derwood Rollins Jr. 82, longtime resident of the
Oxford Community near Gloster, MS passed away
Thursday, February 5, 2015, at his residence near Gloster.
He was born October 6, 1932 in Amite County , the son of
the late Sidney Rollins and Julia Maunita Whittington Rollins.
He worked with Georgia-Pacific Corporation in the
Forestry Department for over 29 years, was a
U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and a member
of Zion Hill Baptist Church near Liberty, MS.
Survivors include his wife of 56 1/2 years Marilyn Rollins,
Preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Rollins and
Julia Maunita Whittington Rollins.
Visitation is Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, beginning at 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services
at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Officiated by Rev. Alton Foster.
Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
2 daughters, Sherry Lynn Rollins and
Ginger Hoover and her husband David.
1 son Sidney D. Rollins III and his wife Patty.
9 Grandchildren, Julie Jackson, Heather Cerbus, Jessie Hoover,
Jake Hoover, Jed Hoover, Holly Rollins, Grace Rollins, Nicole Rollins, and Nicolas Rollins., and 2 Great-grandchildren.
2 Sisters, Carolyn Toney and Beverly Beasley.
1 brother, Jerry Lane Rollins.
1 Granddaughter, Hope Jackson.
