Sidney Lane Rollins

Sidney Lane Rollins, 91, of Gloster, died Dec. 8, 2005, at Promise Special Hospital in Ferriday, La.

Visitation is 6 to 9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster. Visitation continues at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Methodist-Protestant Church in Gloster, until services there at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert Toney and the Rev. Aubrey Everett will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Gloster.

Mr. Rollins was born June 18, 1914, in Amite County to George Rollins and Ada Brantley Rollins.

He was a retired security guard with Georgia-Pacific Corp. He was a member of New Hope Methodist-Protestant Church in Gloster. Mr. Rollins was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julia Maunita Whittington Rollins; three brothers; three sisters; one son, Jerry Lane Rollins; one grandson, Jason Rollins; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Rollins; and one great-grandchild, Hope Jackson.

Survivors include one son, Derwood Rollins of Gloster; two daughters, Carolyn Toney and Beverly Beasley, both of Gloster; 10 grandchildren, Sherry Blugett, Ginger Hoover, Woody Rollins, Jerry Wayne Rollins, Tim Rollins, Tammy Hollingsworth, Brent Beasley, Julia Kay Campbell, Mary Ann Swindel and Robert Toney; and 29 great-grandchildren.
