Steven Curtis Welwood, Sr.
January 8, 1928 - January 21, 2014

Welwood, Steven Curtis Sr., 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 21, 2014 in Granbury, Texas surrounded by his loving children.

Steve was born on January 8, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He joined the Merchant Marines out of high school and later moved to Dallas in order to attend Southern Methodist University, obtaining a degree in Business and meeting and marrying the love of his life, “Dolly”. Following SMU, Steve served in the United States Marine Corp beginning in 1951. He achieved the rank of Captain and was Honorably Discharged in December of 1960. An entrepreneur, Steve founded Steve Welwood Homes, a successful home building business, which continued to be his life long career until his retirement. Steve and Dolly were members of Dallas Bible Church for many years, and for the past couple of years Steve worshiped the Lord in Granbury at Lakeside Baptist Church.

Steve is proceeded in death by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy Weaver Welwood of Midlothian; his beloved granddaughter, Amanda Jane Welwood; his father, Joseph Stevenson Welwood; and mother, Louise Yingling Smith.

He is survived by his son, Curt Welwood and wife, Nancy of Frisco; daughter, Julie Spencer and husband, Bob of Southlake; son, Bill Welwood and wife, Liz of Dallas; grandchildren, Alyssa Welwood; Adam Welwood and wife, Amber; Alec Welwood; Travis Welwood; Kimberly Welwood; and three great grandchildren, Jackson, Clark and Clara Jane.

Services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 1:00 pm at Dallas Bible Church, in Dallas.
