Sue Ann “Mama D” Willis Denton
Services were held Friday, August 6, 2004 in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Burks-Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
Mrs Denton died August 3, 2004, in a Tyler hospital. Mrs Denton was born in Athens on October 28, 1941, to Harry Roland and Helen Pauline Pool Willis.
Mrs. Denton was a hairdresser in Fort Worth, Crowley, Burleson, Tyler and an instructor of high school cosmetology for Cleburne High School, Joshua High School and surrounding area High Schools for most of her life when she was not raising children and being a housewife. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. Mrs. Denton who was voted one of the “Who's Who” in Texas Business Women in 1985.
Mrs. Denton's husband, Donald H. Denton, of 39 years preceded her, as well as a son, David Mark Denton, her father, Harry Roland Willis, and a brother, Llewellen John Willis.
Survivors include son, Avery Lee Denton, of Brownsboro; daughter Jennifer Rhea Denton Rowan and husband Randy; grandson, Charles Austin Edwards, granddaughter, Rachel Rowan all of Tomball; mother, Helen Pauline Pool Willis of Brownsboro; brother James Michael Willis of Tyler; two nephews, Jason and James Willis of Dallas; niece Carmen Matlock and husband Mike Matlock and their children BJ Matlock, Caleb Matlock, Joshua Matlock all of Chandler.
