Sue Brooks was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on December 10, 1930 to Lyle H. Jordan and Eva Loge Crain. She grew up in Terry, Mississippi where she graduated from High School. She also attended Belhaven College in Jackson.

In 1950 she went to work for MPI in Jackson, Mississippi. During the years of her employment the company became DeSoto Industries, and when she retired in 1982 she was DeSoto's Division Accounting Supervisor for their Jackson, Canton and Union plants.

Sue accepted the marriage proposal of Frank L. Brooks, Jr., a veteran of WWII, including the invasion of Iwo Jima. They were married on March 20, 1954, and lived and loved life together until his home-going on June 21, 2011, ending 57 years of marriage.

A devoted Christian, Sue gave of herself and her means freely to the cause of Christ. “The Brooks 40”, their home in Madison, Mississippi, became the place for Riverwood Bible Church youth gatherings, where fun and food were enjoyed by many of “her kids”, always centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. With her husband Frank she also made many summer trips with Riverwood youth groups, who were the delight of her life. In addition to her love of serving young people she also volunteered for years one day each week at Friends of Alcoholics in Pocahontas, Mississippi. Sue lived her faith in Jesus Christ, professing Him freely before men.

One of Sue's interests was gardening. She became certified as a Master Gardner, and her love for all things horticultural was always evident in and around her home. Another interest was travel. Sue and Frank loved to travel the world. They visited each of the fifty United States, plus many foreign countries. A particular favorite was New Zealand, which they visited twice.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Eva Jordan. She is survived by her first cousins, Billie Crain Terry of Canton, Mississippi, Jimmy Crain (Cindy Crain) of Carthage, Mississippi, and numerous other family members.
