Sue (Yeager) McDonald (1913 - 2009)

Sue Yeager McDonald, age 95, of Shalimar, Fla., died in her home on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009.

Mrs. McDonald was born on March 8, 1913, in Marion, Ala., to Willie B. and Emma Jane (Massengale) Yeager. She was a resident of this area since 1943, with the exception of assignments with civil service and tours of military duty with her husband. She was a member of Shalimar United Methodist Church and the United Church Women. She was also a charter member of the Retired Officers' Wives Club at Eglin Air Force Base.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Junius “Mac” G. McDonald; and her sister, Ferryle Shanklin.

She is survived by her brother, Gordon Yeager, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three nieces, Mrs. Scottie Shanklin-Peterson of Kiawah Island, S.C., Mrs. Nancy Gray of Lawrenceville, and Mrs. Cathy Johnston of Jena, La.; and three nephews, Tony L. McDonald of Jena, John McDonald of Haughton, La., and Nathaniel P. Harris of Nashville, Tenn.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at McLaughlin Mortuary.

Funeral services will be conducted at Shalimar United Methodist Church on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. with Dr. Larry Bryars officiating. A private interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Shalimar United Methodist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
