Sydnor Tomlinson
Graveside services for Sydnor Hamp ``Bunch'' Tomlinson, 88, of the Woods Community, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Woods Cemetery. The Rev. Rodney Puryear will officiate. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. He died Wednesday in Carthage.
Born March 14, 1911 in the Woods Community, he was the son of Samual Hamp and Bessie B. Hooker Tomlinson, and was a lifelong resident of Panola County. ``Bunch'' was a farmer and member of the Woods New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Maggie McCoy Tomlinson.
Survivors include his sons, W.L. Tomlinson of Tenaha, and Jimmy Tomlinson, of Woods Community; daughters and son-in-law, Edna Miracle, of Woods Community; sister, Lucy May Shellhorn, of Tenaha; grandchildren and their spouses, Don McClary, of Christoval, Lisa Marie and E.S. Coupel, of Napoleonville, La., Elizabeth Ann and Bobby Presley, of Marietta, Okla., W.L. Tomlinson, Jr., of Tenaha, and Faye and James McKee, of Longview.
Also surviving Tomlinson are his great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Danny Buck Davidson, Terry Bailey, Joseph Roy and Sam Baldwin.
The body will lie in state at 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, and family will receive friends from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
