Teddy Paul Goodwin
Teddy Paul Goodwin, 70 years of age, of DeWitt, passed away at the Saint Elizabeth Regional Care Center in Lincoln Tuesday morning, May 5, 2009.
He was born on April 7, 1939, in Lake, Miss., to John and Alene (Kelly) Goodwin, and was a graduate of Lake High School. He had been a member of the Mississippi National Guard. Teddy and Darlene Stieneke were married on Aug. 19, 1988, in Iowa. He had been employed as a tool and dye maker at Molex, Inc. in Lincoln before he retired. They moved to DeWitt from Lincoln in 2001. Teddy was a car enthusiast and showed cars, enjoyed playing pool, gardening and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; sons, Keith Goodwin and wife Irene of DeWitt, Billy Goodwin of Lincoln, and Kevin Arneson of Greeley, Colo.; daughters, Cathi Arneson and husband Scott of DeWitt, Dawn Fitch and husband Matt of Creighton, Pam Hayes of Salem, Ore., and Julie Spreitzer and husband Steve of Omaha; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, James Goodwin and wife Barbara of Newton, Miss.; and two sisters, Peggy Pettey of Lake, Miss., and Glenda Lewis and husband Leon of Gulf Port, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alene (Kelly) Goodwin; sister, Doris Richardson; brother, Billy Goodwin; grandson, Timothy Fitch; and great-grandson, Jackson Dean Kurth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt with the Rev. Ken Kramer officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt. The body will lie in state Thursday from 1 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Venrick-Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel, Sixth and Washington streets, Beatrice, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Friday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
