Terry A Stevens
August 28, 1931 - June 28, 2015

Terry A. Stevens died June 28, 2015 following six years of illness with multiple medical issues , the most recent being pneumonia.

Born August 28, 1931 in Judsonia, Arkansas to parents Hughey and Velma Stevens. Living on a farm, he learned to make strawberry crates at an early age for his grandfather's berry farm. Growing up like others his age, his job was to milk the cow each morning before going to school.

When crops started to fail, Terry's father followed work in construction building dams across the country. The family had not moved until the start of World War II. By this time sister Donna and brother Jim had been born. The family settled in Washington State where Mr. Stevens worked in Ship yards. Terry had a paper and ice delivery route.

After the war, the family moved to California. In time brother Ted and sister Shirlee completed the family. After high school, Terry started to learn the carpenter trade. He became one of the youngest union card holders.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1950 serving four years. This was during the Korean conflict. Most of those years he was serving on USS Buck. Among other places, he talked of Hong Kong and the Philippines.

After being discharged in 1954, he picked up where he had left off. He continued in construction, married the girl he loved Mary Frances. They soon started their family, had a son Terry Alan. Two years later Mary was lost in an accident. Terry was married to his second wife JoAnn for 36 years. They had two daughters, Denise and Diane.

During this time he was in heavy iron construction. Everything from Power Houses on the North Slope in Alaska, bridges across the nation, and on to Nuclear and Solar power. His last bridge was over the Chetco River in Brookings.

The children all grown, he retired and moved to Crescent City, CA from Lodi, CA in 1979. Loving the ocean, he was never without a boat for sport fishing, sharing his catch with neighbors and friends.

In 1995, Terry was a widower around 2 years later he reconnected with someone he knew as a teen. Discovered she too had lost her spouse, and they were soon married in December 1996. This has given them eighteen years of a good life. They both loved gospel music, traveled to concerts, conventions enjoying especially the Gaither's. He and Naomi never missed a graduation or wedding of his six grandchildren.

Terry is survived by his wife Naomi, son Terry Alan Stevens and wife Kathleen, two daughters Denise Stevens and Diane Stevens Winn and husband Van. Six grandchildren, Tyde and Harmony Biggerstaff, Justin & Stephanie Biggerstaff, Alex Stevens, Norman & Sarah Winn, Rebecca Stevens Young and husband Jacob and Amanda Schwab. Brother Ted & Brenda Stevens, sister Shirlee Stevens Pierini & husband Richard, sister-in-law Ann Stevens. He also leaves behind nine great grandchildren, cousins, many caring extended family members, life time friends Walt & Emma Olson, Dale & Jeanenne Williams. Terry will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, sister Donna and six month brother.

He was a member of Masons of Nevada City, member of the Smith River Baptist attending before his health failed.

Terry was laid to rest in Lodi, CA at Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, any remembrances to one's charity of choice is appreciated.
