Thelma Dunn Scribner Hesse

Sulphur, LA -- Services for Thelma Dunn Scribner Hesse, 88, Sulphur, will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 20, 1991,at Riser & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia with Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, West of Grayson.

Mrs. Hesse died Thursday, July 18, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs, AR, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Hesse was born in Caldwell Parish but lived most of her life in Calcasieu Parish. She attended Southwestern Institute in Lafayette. She had been active in several organizations and served as Justice of the Peace in Calcasieu Parish for 14 years. She was chosen “Woman of the Year” in the early fifties. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westlake, LA.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Hesse Sr. of Sulphur; daughters, Bonnie Ravia Fox of Many, LA; Murl Yvonne Ravia Hawthorne; son-in-law Thomas Hawthorne of Dothan, AL; stepsons: Carl Hesse, Jr. and Joe Hesse, both of Lake Charles; step-daughter, Kathy Hesse Louer of Welsh, LA; brother, Creston C. Dunn of Columbia; sister, Fannie Dunn Newsom of Trout, LA; several step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Thelma S. Hesse

COLUMBIA -- Services for Thelma Dunn Scribner Hesse will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Riser & Son with the Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, Grayson.

Mrs. Hesse, 88, of Sulphur died Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital, Hot Springs, Ark.

She was a native of Caldwell parish and lived most of her life in Calcasieu parish. She attended Southwestern Institute in Lafayette. She served as justice of the peace in Calcasieu for 14 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Westlake. She was chosen “Woman of the Year” in Calcasieu parish in the early 1950s.

Dunn of Columbia; one sister, Fannie Dunn Newsom of Trout; and several stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call until time of services today in the funeral home.
