THELMA PEARL SMITH COBER [sic COBURN] ARINDER EASLEY

CARLSBAD, N.M. -- Thelma Pearl Smith Cober [sic Coburn] Arinder Easley, 86, of Houston, Texas, went to the arms of her Lord and savior at the home of her daughter in Houston, Texas, on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Goins of LaHuerta Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, N.M.

Thelma was born in Bells, Texas, on March 10, 1919, to W.C. and Neta Pearl Smith and attended school in both Texas and New Mexico and completed high school in Texas. She was a former member of LaHuerta Baptist Church of Carlsbad and the Immanuel Baptist Church of San Angelo, Texas.

Thelma was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 10 in San Angelo, Texas. She enjoyed creating ceramics and owned and operated LaHuerta Ceramics in the '80s and '90s in Carlsbad. She also enjoyed sewing and handwork. As her children grew, she was a Girl Scout leader as well as Sunday school teacher and leader.

Survivors include Donald Ray Coburn and wife Virginia, Patricia Kay Coburn Gonzales and husband Carlos of Spring, Texas, Suzan Rosalea Arinder Blummer and husband Tommie of Houston, William Leon Coburn and wife Kari of Las Vegas, Ruby Durinda Coburn Hasty and husband Richard of San Angelo, Texas, Gary Lynn Arinder and wife Julie of Bean Station, Tenn., and Cecil Franklin Arinder and wife Martha of Alamogordo, N.M.; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
