Thelma W. Etheridge

Thelma Whittington Etheridge, 77, of Gloster, died May 30,2006, at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty.

Visitation is 6 to 9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster and 9 a.m. Thursday until services there at 10 a.m. The Rev. Hugh Lambert and the Rev. Stacy McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery.

Mrs. Etheridge was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Amite County, to Pearl Whittington and Myrtis Bass Whittington.

She was a retired store manager and a longtime, faithful memberof the Gloster Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Etheridge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fairley Etheridge; and a brother, Richard Whittington.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Glenn Rollins of Gloster and Mandy and Kevin Whetstone of Liberty; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Beverly Etheridge of Roxie; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Virgie Etheridge, and Francis and Soule Mitchell, all of Gloster; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gordie Whittington, Linus and Mary Whittington and Virgil Whittington, all of Gloster, Robert Whittington of Baton Rouge and Harrell and Sue Whittington of Greenville, S.C.; and a sister-in-law, Lorena Whittington of Centreville.

Pallbearers are Joey Whetstone, Jeffrey Etheridge, Jacob Etheridge, Jayme Etheridge, John Elliott an Jerry Allen. Honorary pallbearers are J.J. Rollins, Zachary Rollins and David Martyn.
