Thitus A. Cody
Thitus A. Cody, 83, of Summit, died March 5, 2009, at her residence.
Visitation continues at 9 a.m. today at Johnston Station Baptist Church until services there at 11. The Rev. Gary Grammar will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery, with Jones Family Funeral Services in charge
Mrs. Cody was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Brookhaven, to Bythel “B.L.” Lindsey and Allie Bowlin Cobb.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Pete” to her friends and family, she was a member of Johnston Station Baptist Church. She retired as a licensed practical nurse, having worked for King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven as a surgery and operating room technician. Her family said she was a wonderful caregiver and a person who looked after the needs of others.
She was a part of the “Three Musketeers” at her church and will be sadly missed by all.
Mrs. Cody was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Cody; three sisters, Gladys McGuffee, Mildred Wallace and Lena Mae Brister; and six brothers, Carl, Ray, Leroy, L.C., Marvin and T.G. Cobb.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Edward Mitchell of Summit, and Carla R. and David Gallagher of McComb; a brother, Earvin Cobb of Summit; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Aline Porter.
Pallbearers will be Blake Murray, Mike Davis, John White, Luther Watts, Jason Erwin, Blake Brandon and Ricky McDaniel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family through Johnston Station Baptist Church, 1071 Verna Lane, Summit, MS 39666.
