Rites Wednesday at Lumberton for Thomas A. Whigham

LUMBERTON -- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bounds Funeral Home Chapel for Thomas Austin Whigham, 70, of 405 East Main St., who died unexpectedly at his home Sunday afternoon.

Officiating minister will be Rev. Barney L. Smith. Burial will be in the Roseland Park Cemetery at Hattiesburg with the Hattiesburg lodge.

Mr. Whigham was a native of Wayne County and was owner of Mid-City Contracting Company of New Orleans from 1927 to 1955. He then moved to Brookhaven and operated a hotel until last September when he retired and moved to Lumberton.

He was a member of the Perfect Union Lodge No. 1, F&AM, and a member of the Grand Consistory of Louisiana 32nd Degree, AASRM of New Orleans. He was a member and deacon of the Central Baptist Church, Metairie, La.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Altha Lee Whigham of Lumberton; One daughter Miss Cathleen Whigham of Metairie; one son, Earl Whigham of Tucson, Ariz.; one grandson, James Whigham of Tucson; three sisters, Mrs. K. C. Gandy of Jackson, Mrs. Macy Walters of Hattiesburg, Mrs. Henry L. Smith of New Orleans; two brothers, Dalton and Kermit Whigham of Laurel.
