Thomas A. Browning, 92, of Bryan passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the St. Joseph Manor in Bryan. Services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, August 11, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Rev. Scott Adams of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Bryan officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Grandview Cemetery in Pasadena, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born to Alvy and Martha Gates Browning in LaPorte, Texas May 26, 1916. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a First Sergeant in the 512th Military Police Battalion and was a driver for General George S. Patton, Jr. serving in the European Theatre. After serving in the Army, he joined Humble Oil and retired after 30 years of faithful service.
He has been a resident of Bryan since 1975. He was a member of the American Legion, the Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge 300 in Kurten, and Hillcrest Baptist Church in Bryan. He was also a member of the 504th Military Police Battalion Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pat Browning February 21, 1989.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Carolyn Browning of Bryan; grandchildren, Paul Browning and his wife Brenda of Prosper, Texas, and Marsa Alsandor and her husband Butch of Houston; and one great-granddaughter, Brittany Browning of Prosper, Texas.
