THOMAS DAVID WHATLEY

Funeral services for David Whatley, 89 of Oglethorpe were held Tuesday, December 1, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Garden Valley. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Elder John Mangham and Rev. Carl Ayers officiated.

Pallbearers: Kelly Bearden, E. L. Simmons, Woodrow Hobbs, Ed Bentley, Brown Perry & John G. Simmons. Honorary Escort: J. C. Wadsworth, Jr., J. L. Webb, Dr. A. J. Morris, John English, Johnny Williams, David Theus, Dr. E. C.Whatley and Rev. Homer Fowler.

Mr. Whatley died Monday, November 30, in a Montezuma hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Taylor County, but had resided most of his life in Macon County. He was a prominent retired farmer and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Henrietta Jones Whatley of Oglethorpe; one son Hudson Whatley of Oglethorpe; one daughter, Mrs. Anita W. Screws of College Park, Ga., two sisters, Miss Victoria Whatley and Mrs. Oscar Simmons, both of Oglethorpe.
