MERIDIAN -- NEWTON -- Services for Thomas Emmett Bolton will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home North Chapel, with Bro. Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bolton, 70, of Newton, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at his residence. He was a Newton County Native, born May 5, 1940, to Bassel Earl and Bessie Mae Chapman Bolton.
Mr. Bolton served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Evergreeen #57 Masonic Lodge and Potentate of the Hamasa Shrine in Meridian in 1984. He was a retired superintendent from the Mississippi Department of Transportation in the Meridian office. Mr. Bolton was an active member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors Include his wife, Thelma Clydene Cooksey Bolton of Newton; his son, Thomas Michael Bolton of Newton; his daughter, Sharon Bolton Blythe and her husband, Jack, of Chunky; his grandchildren, Thomas Clayton Bolton, Jeffery Michael Chaney, Dylan Anthony Bolton, Jamie Renee Chaney and Andrew Bolton; his brother, Earl Bolton, and his wife, Bobbye, of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bassel Earl and Bessie Mae Chapman Bolton Sr.; and his sister, Ernestine (Bobby) Jones.
The family requests memorials be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2548 Cedar Grove Road, Newton, MS 39345.
Pallbearers will be Clay Bolton, Jeff Chaney, Dylan Bolton, Bobby Kinard, Brent Mayes, Chris Craven, Ray Collins, Mike Spence and John Todd.
Visitation will be held today, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m., and on the day of services, from 8 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
