Thomas Meredith Dies; Rites Set Here Saturday

JENNINGS, La. -- Thomas Isadore Meredith, 61, a resident of Jennings since 1915, died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on Highway 308, four miles southwest of Thibodeaux.

Mr. Meredith, an employee of Fred Wilson Drilling Company, working on Rig No. 10, had stopped his truck to get a drink of water when he collapsed.

He was born December 7, 1900 in Columbia, La. He made his home in Jennings at 415 Howard St.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Arthur D. Rockett officiating. The body will lie at Miguez Funeral Home until that time.

Mr. Meredith is survived by his wife, the former Carrie McKeithen, and two sons, Hosea Meredith of Houma, and C.O. Meredith of Jennings.

He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. W.M. McKeithen of Monroe, and three grandchildren.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, with Miguez Funeral Home in charge.
