Thomas Jefferson ``T. J.'' Roberts
T. J. Roberts, age 89, of Dodson, La., passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
Mr. Roberts is the son of the late Dan Roberts and the late Ida (Jones) Roberts. He was also preceded in death by: his wife, Mildred White Roberts, one son: Jerry Roberts, and five sisters: Daisy Young, Myrtle Montgomery, Viola Sanders, Audrey Barker and Lucille Buchan.
Mr. Roberts is survived by: two daughters: Barbara Fossman of Shreveport, La. Linda ``Suby'' Richardson and husband Thomas of Bossier City, La.; one daughter-in-law-Sara Roberts of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother: Bill Roberts of Winnfield, La.; six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Mr. Roberts is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and passed away in the loving care of two special nieces Vonette Buchan and Wardna Dunham.
He was a member of the Welcome Home Baptist Church and a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Roberts enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He especially enjoyed sharing his garden grown vegetables with friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Welcome Home Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Moore and Bro. Buddy Ferrand officiating. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Allen Richardson, Jeffrey Fossman, Brad Richardson, and nephews: Daniel Buchan, Billy Buchan and Don McGrew.
