Thomas L. Jackson
SICILY ISLAND, La. -- Funeral services for Mr. Thomas L. ``Sonny'' Jackson, 72, of Sicily Island, La., will be held at Sicily Island First United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Foster, the Rev. Shorty Mayo and the Rev. Danny Chance officiating.
Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Jackson was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Sicily Island, La. He passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. He was a resident of Sicily Island and a member of the Sicily Island First United Methodist Church. Mr. Sonny was the former sheriff of Catahoula Parish for 16 years. Prior to his years as sheriff, he was a Louisiana State trooper for 20 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In addition to his military and law enforcement career, he was involved in the Masonic Lodge Keystone #213 in Sicily Island. He obtained the 32nd Degree. He was a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs Associated, Louisiana State Troopers Association and the American National Troopers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enos and Lela Tarver Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Jackson of Sicily Island; one son, Steven Thomas Jackson, and his wife, Barbara, of Sicily Island; one daughter, Kathe Price, and her husband, Jimmy, of Sicily Island; three granddaughters, Tiffany, Lauren and Courtney Jackson of Sicily Island; two step-grandsons, Joshua and James Price of Wisner; one sister, Helen Louise Swaggart, and her husband, Gilbert, of Sicily Island; and one brother, Windell R. Jackson, and his wife, Judy, of New Iberia.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Mahaffey, Gene Parker, Bill Atkins, Trey Peek, Raymond Zeagler and Joe Bondurant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Hanna, Charles Miller, Eldon Brown, George Griffing and Paul Blunschi.
The family will receive friends at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Highway 15 South in Winnsboro from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005.
