Thomas Stanley Ferguson

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Stanley Ferguson, 85, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004 in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel. officiating will be Rev. Randy Riley and assisting will be Rev. Billy Crosby. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ferguson passed away on Monday, February 16, 2004. He was a life-long resident of Shreveport. He graduated from Byrd High School and attended LSU and Centenary College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as a radioman and radar operator aboard the destroyer escort, U.S.S. Tatum. He spent most his long career as a construction superintendent. He was a faithful member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church, having served many years as a Deacon and more recently as a Sunday School teacher for the two year old children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Brider and Jessie Almeda Carter Ferguson; his first wife, Evora Gaar Ferguson and brothers, Byrle and Jack.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margaret Kilman Ferguson; two daughters, Nancy Kilman Lazarre (Gary) and Cynthia Ferguson Ortego (Gerald); a son, Thomas S. Ferguson, Jr.; his brother, Brider L. Ferguson (Bobbye); five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church's building fund or to the charity of choice.

Stanley loved nature and was an avid gardener and outdoors-man. He was a loving caregiver to several members of his family and was always ready to help those around him. His family wishes a very special thanks to DeeDee and Bobbye for their loving care.
