Services held for T. W. (Tom) Walker

Services for T. W. (Tom) Walker, 79-year-old Braxton resident, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, from the Braxton Baptist Church with interment in the Braxton Cemetery.

Officiating was Dr. W. H. Wilkinson, with Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee in charge.

Born in McComb, Walker had lived in Simpson County most of his life and was a rural mail carrier for 43 years before retiring in 1957. He died on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Simpson General Hospital, Mendenhall.

A member of Braxton Baptist Church, he had served as a deacon for 15 years and church treasurer for 32 years. He was a member of Braxton Masonic Lodge 465, F&AM, Braxton Chapter 311, Order of Eastern Star and past patron of the OES.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Letha Walker of Braxton; 2 daughters, Mrs. John M. (Ruth) Brown of Saraland, Ala., and Mrs. W. H. (Billie Sue) Wilkinson of Alexandria, La., 3 brothers, Gus Walker of Ogden, Utah, G. P. Walker of Jackson and Joe M. Walker of Auburn, Ala.; 4 sisters, Misses Bess, Gene and Stella Walker of Jackson and Mrs. J. E. Cage of Artesia, N.M.; and 5 grandchildren.
