Thomas W. Hawthorne

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Thomas W. Hawthorne, 68, of Dothan, Ala., died Friday in Dothan.

The service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Clark Funeral Home in Cairo, Ga. (912-377-1414). Burial with full military honors will follow at Hawthorne Cemetery.

A native of Whigham, Ga., he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was awarded citizen citations and decorations in both. He also served with the Air Force Reserve during the Vietnam War. He received his master's degree from Troy State University. He was retired from the Air Force and civil service from Fort Rucker, Ala., and was a former Man of the Year at Fort Rucker.

He is survived by his wife, Murl Yavia [sic Ravia] Hawthorne of Dothan; and a brother, Doug Hawthorne of Whigham.
