H. Thurman Lewis
LANCASTER, Pa. -- H. Thurman Lewis, 89, a retired Division Traffic Agent for Illinois Central Railroad, died of heart failure Feb. 23 at Willow Valley Health Care Center.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Monday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewis, an Edenburg native, was raised in Hattiesburg. He received a certificate in business from Mississippi State Teachers College.
He was District Traffic Agent for the railroad in Greenwood for 11 years, retiring from Illi[n]ois Central in 1967 after 51 years of service.
He lived in Jackson 40 years and had lived in Lancaster five years. He was a member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club and the Jackson County Club.
Survivors include: son, Earl T. Lewis of West Chester, Pa.; brother Ralph R. Lewis of Jackson; and three grandchildren.
Memorial may be made to the Mary Sue Lewis Memorial Fund of Millsaps College.
