Tiny Juanita Aikens Temple
Funeral services for Tiny Juanita Aikens Temple, 89, of Monroe will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in the sanctuary at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Erby Burgess officiating. Interment will follow at Start Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Temple passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria from injuries sustained from a vehicular tragedy. She was born April 19, 1923 in Berkeley County, West Virginia, and served in the Navy during WWII where she met the love of her life, Bill Temple, Jr., in Memphis. She was a hair stylist and owner of Temple of Beauty for 47 years and was a member at Parkview Baptist Church and Faithful Friends Sunday School Class. Among her many talents and interests were gardening, art, sewing, adventuring, traveling, listening to family, and friends and preparing meals for sick friends. She was a lover of life and a blessing to all that knew her.
Mrs. Temple was preceded in death by her parents, John Nelson and Martha Tedrick Aikens; foster daughter, Jeanne Cart Stephan; brothers, George Aikens, Charles Aikens, John Aikens; and sisters, Nellie Lord, Dorothy Evy, Louise Albert, and Catherine Noll.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years W. M. “Bill” Temple. Jr,; children, Judy Ward (Mac) of Ruston, William Dale Temple (Terry) of Monroe, J. Timothy Temple (Kelly) of Monroe, Juanita Owens (Sam); grandchildren, Lance Ward and Aub Ward of Ruston, Robert Temple of Stuttgart, AR, Ashley Irving of West Monroe, Abigail Owens of Anchorage, Alaska, Mitchell Cart of Antioch, Illinois, Stephen Cart of Kansas City; and sisters, Anna Belle Smith and Ella Knighten of Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Aub Ward, Lance Ward, Sonny Smith, Wade Dickerson, Randy Causey, and John Richard “Beau” Skipper.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to the Chennault World War II Museum or Parkview Baptist Church.
