Murder - Suicide Apparent
News-Star Ruston Bureau
QUITMAN -- A 62-year-old Quitman man and his wife died here Saturday night in an apparent murder-suicide, Jackson Parish authorities reported.
Jackson Parish sheriff's deputies said Walter H. Gray and Tiny Gray, 59, both of Bear Knoll Drive in Quitman, were pronounced dead at the scene by Jackson Parish Coroner Mrs. Betty Stevenson.
Mrs. Gray, who was found at the table in the kitchen area, was shot once in the chest area with a shotgun.
Gray, who was found in the back part of the house, was also shot once in the chest with the same weapon which was found beside his body.
Deputies said Gray had called a member of the family and said he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself before anyone could get to the scene. When deputies arrived at the Gray residence about 11:30 p.m. Saturday they found both victims dead, officials said.
