Tommy Merkel Vanderslice

Tommy Merkel Vanderslice, 87, of Bay Springs, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Holders Methodist Church Cemetery.

A Master Mason for 52 years, he was past patron of the Eastern Star. A retired electrician, he was a member of Holders Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ples and Eddie Thigpen Vanderslice; a brother, John M. Vanderslice; and a sister, Elizabeth Wells.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby McCarty Vanderslice; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bill and Cindy Bryant of Mantachie and Mikel Vanderslice Sr. of Bay Springs; a daughter and son-in-law,Tommie and Kenny Stringer of Bay Springs; a sister, Frances Phillips of Bay Springs; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
