Tura Goldblum
Tura Hammond Goldblum, 89, of Danville, CA and Brandon, MS peacefully passed from this life in Pleasanton, CA to be with her Lord and her beloved husband, Kirby. Her children and grandchildren were by her side.
Born in Sylvarena, MS, to Wm and Ottie Hammond, the 2nd of 12 children, Tura joined the Women's Army Corps in WWII. She met Kirby D. Goldblum (COL/USA/Ret) at Fort Dix, NJ, wed in 1946 and was married until his death in 1980.
A devoted wife and mother, Tura was our strength, bringing peace and harmony to a hectic military life.
Her strong faith taught her children and brought her husband to Christianity. She inspired all with her sweet smile, sparkling eyes and strength of character.
She is survived by children, Kyle (Andi), Shelley, Doug (Candida), Keith (Lynn) and Gary; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Dee, Marjorie, Juanita, VonCile, Deloras, John, Jackie, and Yvonne; nieces; nephews; and caregivers, Bobbie and Charlene.
She was predeceased by husband; parents; a brother, and two sisters.
A Celebration of Life, at historic Lighthouse Baptist Church, included favorite hymns, a remembrance by Keith, the 23rd Psalm by Sarah, Marina, Matthew, Megan, and ``Amen'' by Bella. We'll miss Tura greatly, but we rejoice knowing that she's in a far better place.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever! Ps 23.
Condolences: 42 St. Maurice, Ct., Danville, CA 94526.
